I love coffee. Sometimes people try to switch my coffee to decaf when I’m not looking. I can always tell the difference. I also like Pringles, but only the reduced fat kind because they crunch better when you bite into them and they don’t leave grease on your fingers. I’m…

I’ve known Holly and Rob for years now. Since Holly and I worked together on Nick News. She was one of my first clients and one of my most loyal. Just before the holidays, I photographed her family pictures. She mentioned specifically that she wanted an “Anthropologie” look with the…

You might remember the fact that Sean and I were searching for an old “It’s better in the Bahamas” 70s mug? No? Well, I’m too lazy to go back through my archives and find it…maybe I will later. But right now? It’s 8am and I just now got my coffee…

Weekly Coffee

MIA

For the next couple of weeks, I’m going to be a little more absent than normal. But overall, it’s a good thing! I just got a new job and I am officially the new events and marketing coordinator for the Red Horse Cafe in Park Slope. This position essentially means that I’ll be curating the gallery space in the coffee shop as well as booking the weekly performers and musicians. I’m also trying to institute some other events, so any suggestions you all may have, feel free to send it along! Likewise, any local talent who is interested in performing or exhibiting art should email me.

So, anyway, this combined with a few photography projects I had taken on prior to knowing I got the job has made me a crazy, busy person. Unfortunately, this leaves very little time to update my website. But once I get more into the swing of things, I’ll return with a vengeance. I know you will all be waiting on the edge of your seats…

CONGRATS on the job! You deserve it. Let me know how it goes!

At Austin’s in Orlando, we did a film festival every month. (Thus the name of the place.) Local films (ie. from film schools) will pull in local customers to support their projects. Your business will need the necessary equipment in place, but the films themselves should be easy enough to get. I can give you the info of the friend who ran the show at Austin if you want more tips. He was one of our story producers on Hogans.

Thanks Lynne! I’ll keep you updated. Right now: Crazy. Busy. That’s about it. =0)

TJ - This place seems to have all the necessary equipment, because they have staff movie nights there every month. And there’s a pull down screen, etc, etc. It’s going to be a pretty big project to try and jump into immediately, but hopefully it’ll run smoothly.

Yay you, Colleen!!!! Happy dances in your direction!

I don’t know the venue, but if you’re doing live performances and art exhibitions, I’d guess it might be a really good place for author readings and poetry slams - and I believe you already have some connections with published authors in your area to begin with, so cultivating new connections might not be as time consuming as a completely new arena. (Plus, I’m always looking for ways to help new authors so I automatically got that way :-)

Thanks Merry! Happy dances abound over here as well!

I definitely would love to have this cafe host some poetry slams and live readings. That was actually one of my first thoughts, so hopefully the owners will be just as into it as I am!
